Recently, at the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce annual dinner at the Voyageur, Chamber Executive Director, Jody Skonieczny presented the Organization of the Year plaque to Jo-Anne Wilkie, president of the St. Clair Art Association, Public Art Chairperson Andrea Brieden and her committee members. SCAA was honored for the leadership, innovation, development & implementation of creative projects in our city – art projects that have involved many youth and adults in the past two years. The programs have included 1.) Lamppost Banner Competitions, 2.) Seasons in St. Clair painting competitions & exhibits, 3.) Chalk the Walks, 4.) helping facilitate the Skateboard Park art projects, 5.) involving youth & adults in the creation of more than a thousand tiles that will form a large mosaic fish sculpture on the banks of the Pine River, and 6.) participating in the first Blue Water International Sculpture Exhibition. The BWISE Project includes the cities of St. Clair, Lexington, Marine City, Port Huron and Sarnia, Ontario. St. Clair installed a major sculpture by Chicago artist Terry Karpowicz in the Riverview Plaza Courtyard where it will remain thru the summer of 2012.
SCAA is grateful for the support and encouragement provided by the City of St. Clair, the Downtown Development Authority, the St. Clair Foundation, the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, SCAA volunteers, the citizens of St. Clair and all that have made these projects possible. Bravo to ALL!!
