Chris Winn – Blown Glass

 
 Chris was the Featured Artist at the 2011 St. Clair Art Fair during the last weekend of June.  His work continued to be displayed in the Exhibit Gallery during July.  The following was included in the Art Fair program.

Chris Winn is a man of many talents.  For fourteen years he has been providing comfort and relieving pain as a chiroprator.  He also has been making one-of-a-kind blown glass art for over 8 years now.

“After making neon for twenty years, the artistic need to do more than ‘liquor’ and ‘open’ signs took over.  I started taking lasses in a Detroit glass shop and after six months decided to build my first studio.  After learning how to weld and the science behind getting a bunch of bricks to heat to 2100 degrees, I soon was melting my first glass. 

It has been one long session of passion-filled creation since then.  These is nothing quite like taking molten glass that runs like honey and turning it into a one-of-a-kind work of color and reflection!  The fascination continues to grow and pushes me toward new creation.
