On October 3rd, from 1 – 3 p.m., the St. Clair Art Association’s Public Art Committee, in conjunction with St. Clair’s Downtown Development Authority, will host an open reception to launch the exhibit of all entries in Seasons in St. Clair – Fall Art Competition. This second segment in the four seasons art competition drew triple the number of entries from last years Summer competition. Many very talented local and regional artists entered – no doubt making nationally known artist, Tom Hale’s job of deciding the winning entry a tough decision. Please join us as the winner is announced and be among the first to order your signed, limited edition print.
Come create or watch the development of artful sidewalks throughout St. Clair and in the Riverview Plaza. This first-time event for St. Clair is presented by the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce and the SCAA on September 25, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Should it rain sidewalk art will be under the cover of the Plaza corridors and with shineshine all artists may create along the sidewalks of Riverside Ave., the center courtyard of the Plaza and on Clinton Ave. Vicky Path, Mary Quintel, Sylvia Plutter Daniels and Chris Klieman will be featured artists creating chalk masterpieces. Two fun organized artworks will be the “chalk by number” where everyone may draw a square of a larger picture that has been “grid-lined” to recreate a masterpiece. The other event will be an Add – On chalk artwork; it will consist of a started picture (such as a house) where all can add their own creative imagery (maybe a dog, tree or fence) to build an entire scene made by the community (should be fun to see what gets included in the art and how it ends up looking). There will be a free chalk giveaway and from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. the Whistles on the Water will be sounding off to add additional fun for all to enjoy. Our thanks go to First Michigan Bank as presenting sponsor, Neiman’s Family Market as Mural Sponsor and Featured Artists Sponsors: Comfort Keepers Home Care, McDonald’s K.D.E., Simply Marcella and the St. Clair Dollar Store. Please mark your calendar and join in the fun!
