This year’s Yuletyme Fair holiday extravaganza continues through December 22. Come down to the Art Center and browse the many items for sale. Before you stop in you can check out the photographs on the Yuletyme Fair page, but hurry, that item you see in the photo might be sold before you get to the gallery!! The Gallery will be open Tuesday – Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday before Christmas from Noon to 4 pm.
Congratulations to Art Association member artist Dave Fry!! Dave was awarded a 1st place Gold Award at the 2013 Our Town Art Show and Sale in Birmingham, Michigan, October 10-12. Dave’s winning work is titled “Pondering”, shown at left. Click it to open a larger image.
Local potters Ronni Mainguy and Juliet Smith have their work on display in the Art Center Exhibit Gallery in a show they’ve titled “Shades of Clay”. Come see their wonderful work on display through November 2. Along with their works, there are lamps created by Richard Gottschalk. Chalk the Walk is this Saturday, September 28, from 10 am to 4 pm at Riverview Plaza! Sponsored by the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce and the Art Association. Come downtown and add to the artwork – chalk is provided. Featured artists will be Jason Stier, Hunter Erdman, Vicky Path, Todd McCallum and Amy Foster. While you’re there you can listen to the antique steam whistles from Great Lake steamers and passenger ships sounding off in Palmer Park as part of Whistles on the Water. A fun time in downtown St. Clair!!
Friday, September 13 at 6 pm, will be the Reception for the current exhibit at the Art Center. In collaboration with Studio 1219 in Port Huron, the Alice W. Moore Center for the Arts is hosting Double Down the River. Photographers from the Blue Water Shutterbugs Camera Club posted photos at Studio 1219 and the Art Center. Artists selected a photo for interpretation in a different art form. The photographs and the interpretations are on display during the month of September.
Classes are starting again at the Art Center!! The first Fall session of classes starts Labor Day week. Our clay throwing, painting, drawing, clay hand building & sculpture, beads and printmaking classes will be offered. Introduction to Digital Photography – Part 1 will be offered this session, with Part 2 offered in the next session. For kids, Art Club! will be offered both Tuesday and Friday evenings and Hands in Clay on Thursdays.
