Chalk the Walk on September 27th

Chalk the Walk SmallChalk the Walk will soon be here! On Saturday, September 27 from 10 am to 4 pm the St. Clair Art Association and the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce will sponsor “Chalk the Walk”. Stop in at the Art Center in Riverview Plaza in downtown Saint Clair and register to get a box of chalkWhistles on the Water Photo from Blue Water Org and create your own sidewalk work of Art! No cost to participate for kids & adults! Click here for photos from past Chalk the Walk events. The same day you can also check out the 6th Annual Whistles on the Water in Palmer Park from 9 am to 6 pm, where you can see and hear the historic whistles.

 

New Classes Starting in September

 

The class flyer for the new class session starting September 1 week is now available.  Go to our Classes page to view and download the full flyer showing class descriptions, ipad3bschedule and costs for each class and workshop.  This session class offerings include clay, painting, digital photography, sewing, quilting, printmaking and Tangling Yarn-Knitting & Crochet.  We welcome Jason Stier as an instructor this session!!  Jason will teach Drawing & Beyond where students will explore the impact of art & design on everyday life.   A workshop led by Jason titled Technology in Art is scheduled for Saturday, September 20 at 10 am.  Bring your own laptop, tablet or smart phone and explore how technology has become a powerful & versatile tool for creating art, photography, video editing, music making 3D design and more!

2014 Street Banner Winners

First Place YouthThe winners of the 2014 Street Banner contest were selected by a vote of the public and announced at the May 14 reception for all the banner artists.  The winning youth First Place Adultbanner is shown at left and the winning adult banner on the right.   To view all the entries and see who had the top three vote totals for youth and adult categories, click here to go to the Street Banner Page.  Congratulations to all our banner artists!

 

The banners will be hanging from the skylights in the corridors of the Riverview Plaza in downtown Saint Clair until they are moved to be on display from street lampposts throughout Saint Clair.

SCAA is Participating in Give Where You Live!

Middle & High School Student Art Exhibits

2014 Student Exhibit Photo2The 2014 Combined Middle School and High School Student Art Exhibit will be on display at the Art Center starting April 8.  It will run through April 26 with the Student Artist Reception on Tuesday, April 15 at 4:30 pm.  The reception honored the students, their families and art teachers.    Check out the Special Exhibits page to see the Best of Show for the Middle and High Schools and also view several photographs of the other fine work created by our local student artists.
