Thanks to all who participated in making over 150 ceramic bowls at the St. Clair Art Association. They will be sold April 16th at St. Stephen’s Church in Port Huron to help raise funds for our local soup kitchens as part of the Empty Bowls event. Gallery hours on Saturday are changing to 11 am to 3 pm effective this weekend. Hours on Tuesday through Friday remain 10 am until 5 pm. Saturday classes or workshop hours in the Art Center Studio are unchanged.
The Art Center is back open after our annual inventory process. Stop by and check out the gallery reset. Classes resume this week (January 12th), including workshops scheduled every Saturday through February. Workshops on Digital Scrapbooking, Acrylic Painting, Valentine’s Day Origami and Polymer Clay Sculpture are on the schedule. The Art Center will be closed for the holidays starting December 24 through January 4, 2015. The annual gallery inventory process will be the week of January 5, 2015. The gallery reopens for business on January 13, 2015.
Classes resume with the Technology in Art workshop on Saturday, January 10 at 10 am to Noon. Jason Stier will explore how technology has become a powerful and versatile tool for creating art: photography, video editing, music making, 3D design and more! Bring your own laptop, tablet or smartphone and join in the digital art revolution. Cost is on $20. Please register ahead to reserve a seat. Adults and youth are welcome.

There are two separate acrylic painting workshops scheduled at the Art Center for two Saturdays in December! On December 13 from 10 am to Noon, a Holiday Acrylic Painting Workshop is scheduled. Marilyn Biernot-Hess will lead the group in creating holiday themed paintings on two small canvas. On the next Saturday, December 20 from 10 am to Noon will be a Acrylic Winter Scene Workshop. Marilyn will again be the instructor. You will work on a 12″x16″ canvas to create a winter scene.
Both workshops are open to ages 11 to adult. The cost is only $20 for 12/13 and $30 for the 12/20 workshop. Hope to see you there!
