The winners of the 2014 Street Banner contest were selected by a vote of the public and announced at the May 14 reception for all the banner artists. The winning youth banner is shown at left and the winning adult banner on the right. To view all the entries and see who had the top three vote totals for youth and adult categories, click here to go to the Street Banner Page. Congratulations to all our banner artists!
The banners will be hanging from the skylights in the corridors of the Riverview Plaza in downtown Saint Clair until they are moved to be on display from street lampposts throughout Saint Clair.
The 2014 Combined Middle School and High School Student Art Exhibit will be on display at the Art Center starting April 8. It will run through April 26 with the Student Artist Reception on Tuesday, April 15 at 4:30 pm. The reception honored the students, their families and art teachers. Check out the Special Exhibits page to see the Best of Show for the Middle and High Schools and also view several photographs of the other fine work created by our local student artists.
The Art of Success: Secrets I Have Learned will be about 45 minutes in length and is described by Mr. Fionda as “where I informally share experiences, anecdotes and insights gleaned over 30 years as an artist and art educator. The thrust of the presentation deals with helping artists reach the next plateau in their development.” Click here for more information and images.
Refreshments will be served.
The theme of the sixth annual Street Banner Contest is “Fort Sinclair”. 2014 is the 250th anniversary of the fort built in 1764 by the British. This year’s Street Banner project is in collaboration with the Saint Clair Historical Commission and is the kick-off of a year of special activities planned by the Historical Commission marking the 250th anniversary of Fort Sinclair.
